Today was one of those days that remind me just how special music and friendship can be.
The morning started with Tony Hughes giving me a tour of his brand-new Wersi Sonic OAX 800 organ. He’d already spent some time getting to know the instrument and had created a few registrations to show off its range—and I have to say, they were absolutely stunning. From classic organ tones to lush orchestral sounds, the OAX 800 handled it all with ease.
After a lovely lunch that Tony’ family had kindly prepared for me, I had the chance to take the hot seat at the Wersi myself. What a sound. As someone who has played Wersi organs in the past, I had a good idea of what to expect—but this was on a much grander scale. The richness, clarity, and sheer versatility of the Sonic system really took things to the next level.
It was a real treat to get hands-on again and spend some time exploring the sounds and possibilities this beautiful instrument offers. After a play, we enjoyed a good chat about music, organs, and future plans before it was time for me to head home.
I truly hope he gets many hours of enjoyment from his new Wersi and continues creating beautiful music with it.
And who knows? Maybe one day Tony will come and try out my Tyros 4 Hybrid Organ Setup—I’d love to return the favour and share the joy of my own system with him.
Until then, happy playing, Tony!
