Every now and then, something unexpected happens that really brightens your week — and recently, one of those moments came courtesy of my work colleague, Leo.
After my music was featured in our company newsletter, Leo came over to tell me how much he enjoyed reading about it. We got chatting about music, and it turned out he recognised a few of the pieces I’ve played before. A few days later, he surprised me with a lovely gift — a hymn book from his local church, **The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints**.
It’s a beautifully presented book, filled with traditional hymns and words of faith, many of which I’d never come across before. I’ve already spent a bit of time paging through it, and it’s easy to see how much care and meaning has gone into each song. As someone who loves exploring different styles and traditions of music, this felt like a real treasure — not just a gift, but a gesture that reflects the power of music to connect people, no matter where it comes from.
I’m truly grateful to Leo for his kindness and thoughtfulness. It’s always special when someone shares something meaningful from their own life, and this gift has already given me some new inspiration for future performances. Who knows — maybe one of these hymns will find its way into a future concert or livestream!
