A Weekend Retreat – Enjoy the voyage with me.

Have you ever considered a weekend away and looked at the prices of hotels in the UK.

This weekend I took a trip with a difference. I boarded the Pride of Hull my floating hotel for a day trip over to The Netherlands.

If you’ve never done anything like this before it’s certainly a great get away.

Boarding the ship in Hull at 16:00 you are allocated your cabin for your voyage which remains yours for the duration of your stay onboard.

Once on board there are various duty free shops, bars and restaurants to choose from.

If you are wanting to dine onboard I would fully recommend booking when you purchase your ticket as it is cheaper.

Once you have dined it’s always good to head out to the outside deck for the departure from the port. It’s certainly an eye opener to watch the crew manoeuvre such a large vessel with skill and precision.

You have 12 hours to explore the ship at your leisure. Maybe a drink and a show in the sunset show lounge, a relaxing serenade in the sky bar or try your luck for a full house in the casino.

Waking up refreshed head for breakfast before arrival in Rotterdam Europort. Now this is a manoeuvre not to be missed. The space this ship has to move is tiny and it’s fascinating to watch how they get this ship into such a small space. The Hull ferries dock at the Benluxhaven in the port.

After disembarking you head off the ship to passport control. This is now an extremely lengthy process. Once off the ship it’s a coach trip to your chosen destination. Amsterdam or Rotterdam.

Enjoy a full 6 hours there roughly and then back on the coach back to shop to enjoy the voyage again.

My Top Tips

Meals on Board – Buy Dinner and Breakfast outward and just Dinner on the Return

Cabins – Book a premier cabin they are a lot more spacious.

Show Lounge – If you like a loud environment this is the place for you. Unfortunately not my cup of tea

Sky bar – The perfect place to unwind and relax.

Spend time on the outside decks. There is plenty of deck space at the rear of the ships. It can be accessed via the sky lounge of walking to the stern of deck 10.

I hope this has given you some inspiration to try a mini cruise. If you are thinking of planning a real cruise then this really is a taster of what you can expect on a day to day basis.

I hope you enjoyed sailing with me. Now enjoy some pictures of my latest voyage.
