There are certain things you don’t realize are on your bucket list… until you get the chance to do them. For me, one of those unexpected, slightly random items was using a digger. And I finally got to tick that off—and it was just as fun as I’d hoped!
Massive thanks to my dad’s next door neighbour, who made it happen. He was kind enough to let me hop into the cab and give it a go. There’s something weirdly satisfying about operating heavy machinery, even if it’s just for a little while. It’s like being a kid again, except this time the digger is real, not a plastic toy in the sandbox.
I won’t pretend I was a pro—those controls take some getting used to—but by the end, I managed a decent scoop or two. Honestly, it’s the kind of thing that puts a grin on your face and makes you feel like a total legend, even if you’re just moving a pile of dirt.

Just goes to show, the best moments sometimes come from the simplest experiences—and from awesome neighbours willing to share a cool opportunity
