Another great day at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, and today I want to talk about one of my absolute favourites – the Flying Machines.
There’s something really special about this ride. It’s not the fastest or the flashiest, but it’s got something no other ride can match: history. The Flying Machines is the oldest operating ride in Europe, dating all the way back to 1904. And despite being over a century old, it still delivers that feeling of joy and wonder every single time.
It’s such a unique experience. You climb into one of the rocket-shaped cars, it slowly lifts off, and then you gently fly in a big circle high above the park. There’s no big drop, no sudden twists, just a smooth, peaceful flight with the wind in your face and views over the Pleasure Beach and the coast. It’s the kind of ride that makes you slow down and appreciate the simple fun of it all.
As I waited in line, I couldn’t help thinking about how many people have flown on this ride over the years. It’s like being part of something timeless, a shared experience that connects generations.
Oh, and I also picked up a new bucket hat today. Thought it was time to treat myself. Looks great, keeps the sun off, and honestly, it was the perfect finishing touch to a classic Blackpool day.
Another great memory made. Same ride, new hat, and the kind of day that reminds me why I keep coming back.
