Learning New Skills at Work: Measuring Fabric with the Datacolor Spectro

During the quieter months at work, I’ve had the opportunity to learn something new—measuring fabric using the Datacolor Spectro. My colleagues, Geoff and Sam, have been guiding me through the process, and it’s been a fascinating experience getting to grips with this important part of fabric dyeing.

For those unfamiliar with it, the Datacolor Spectro is a precision instrument used to measure the colour of fabrics accurately. It ensures that the shades produced match industry standards and customer expectations. By analyzing how light interacts with the fabric, it helps detect even the smallest variations in colour, which is crucial in our line of work.

I’d like to say a big thank you to Geoff & Sam for sharing their expertise and patiently walking me through the process. Their knowledge has been invaluable, and it’s great to be expanding my skill set in this area.

Learning this new skill has given me a deeper appreciation for the technical side of fabric dyeing, and I’m looking forward to putting it to good use in the future!
