Saying a Fond Farewell to Peter Middleton

Today has been one of those days when you have to say good bye to someone in an earthly sense.

Today myself and my dear friend and work colleague Alan visited Blackley Cemetery & Crematorium to say a fond farewell to a man who was part of our working career for a year or two. Peter Middleton was our health & safety manager for a short time at our place of work.

Peter was a full of life character and was so pleasant to have around. Alan & I spent a lot of time working with Peter in various roles around the mill. From checking eye wash stations to fire & ammonia alarm tests each week. I can always remember Peters Health & safety meetings. All his PowerPoint presentations could definitely be entered for a colouring competition. Always bright and colourful. Something that pretty much summed up him.

During the eulogy Peter’s daughter Ash mentioned something that we could all certainly relate to in our workplace about Peter.

“Dad are you ok to do this for me”

“Yes I’ll get round to it”

6 months later yes you’ve guessed it. The same conversation.

I was truly touched today to be a part of Peter’s final journey. When you lose someone you are close to it can be hard to come to terms with what to do next, but life goes on and you take what memories you have of our friends and  loved ones departed and cherish those memories forever.

Thank you for everything you taught us Peter and remember to keep reading your book Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres.

Rest in Peace.
